San Juan Archipelago:  from Roche Harbor,  2-5 days,  $105 per day.

This area encompasses 172 named islands carved by the Cordillerian ice cap and nestled between Vancouver Island and the Washington State mainland. The combination of a warm, dry climate, abundant wildlife and hundreds of islands to explore make this area an ideal paddling environment with spectacular beach front campsites. Explore the wildest areas of the San  Juans which are also the habitual haunts of J, K and L pods of resident orcas. From our camps at San Juan county park, Rum or D'Arcy Islands we'll observe Dall's porpoise, river otter, seals, bald eagles and splendid sunsets. A quiet night may find us drifting toward the lighthouse amidst feeding porpoises by moonlight, steaming in our beach sauna, or perched high on the bluffs star-gazing.  Gentle island hikes, through meadow and forest to panoramic viewpoints and beaches, begin from our camps.  Call for additional dates.

Clayoquot Sound:  beaches, ancient forests,  villages from Tofino, 5 days  $625.

Located on Vancouver Island's west coast, Clayoquot Sound embraces its largest remaining expanse of temperate virgin rain forest, approximately 650,000 acres. Resident and migratory gray whales and porpoises spout and feed in the broad sandy bays. Bald eagles and osprey perch in thousand-year-old cedars, plummeting into the clear water after flashing salmon. Expansive sand beaches offer timeless beachcombing and tracking of elusive bear and wolf.  We will camp at ancient village sites of the Nuu-cha-nulth (Nootka) which offer insight and respect for native culture as well as gentle surf play.

Johnstone Strait: Orcas, eagles and bears, oh my! from Alert Bay, 5 days, $625.

Home to approximately one hundred fifty Orca whales, Johnstone Strait is the most spectacular gathering of orcas on the continent. Our adventure begins on Cormorant Island, the cultural heart of Kwakiutl Indian country, with an opportunity to visit U'Mista Cultural Center, one of the finest collections of Potlatch masks and stories of the Kwakiutl culture. For two days and nights we will basecamp on the Strait, kayaking with Orca and Minke whales, porpoises, river otter, bald eagles and wary forest inhabitants such as elk, bear, cougar and wolf.  For two nights we stay near the ten-thousand year old village of Meem-quam-leese, touring the abandoned village and its fallen totems and standing houseposts.  Peaceful paddling in labyrinth channels reveal pictographs and fallen tree burial boxes.   Our last day returns us to Telegraph Cove or Alert Bay

New Zealand

Bay of Islands- from Paihia, North of Aukland- 6 and 10 days- $750-$1200.

The Bay of Islands is the heartland of the Maori people, meaning remote archeological sites, idyllic camping and subtropical paddling conditions.  We will visit seven islands in this 100 square mile maritime park, snorkeling, sunbathing and beach combing, poking into sea caves and foraging for fresh seafood.  We'll also have opportunity for hiking spectacular headlands and tropical streams and developing our kayaking skills in the near 70 degree water and gentle surf, as well as learning about Maori culture.  Optional yoga on the beach will refresh us during the New Zealand summer.  Call for additional dates.

Hawaii

   Kayak & Hike the Big Island of Hawaii - from Kona, HI - 7 days - $1000

Kayak on the Kona coast, enjoying sand beaches, dolphins, humpback whales, reef snorkeling and archeological sites.  Explore the reconstructed Hawaiian village of Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, place of refuge.  Hike Volcanoes National Park, home of Pele, the fire goddess and second most active volcanic area in the world.  Learn the botany and ornithology of this exotic place, and hike to the coast for  sunset as the volcano flows into the sea.  Our last days at Kalani Honua, (Harmony of Heaven and Earth) retreat center on the Puna coast offer opportunities to swim with wild dolphins, relax in the sauna-jacuzzi-pool complex, soak in volcanic hotsprings and steam caves, wake quietly to morning yoga and experience native Hawaiian culture.  Call for additional dates.

Sea of Cortez: Espiritu Santo Island- from La Paz- 9 days- $1095.

The Sea of Cortez is legendary for its abundance and turquoise waters, and Espiritu Santo (Saint Spirit) is the Cortez classic.  Over 20 white sand beaches stud the west coast, inviting snorkeling with tropical fish, gregarious sea lion pups, dolphins and Manta rays.  Windy afternoons may find us in arroyo reveries or floating in hidden inland lagoons.  Weather permitting, we will traverse the less-visited east coast with its soaring sea cliffs.  A mid-trip visit to a freshwater well for "showers" and optional yoga on the beach will refresh us.  Cost includes boat transport to the island, accomodations and transfers before and after the trip.  Call for additional dates.

Sea of Cortez Coast: Loreto to La Paz- from La Paz- 9 days- $1,060.

This Baja Coastline offers 60 road less miles of magenta canyons, palm filled arroyos, sea caves and soaring volcanic cliffs.  Paddling in the morning with dolphins, manta rays, sea birds and sea lions, our afternoons will be free for snorkeling in the 80 degree water amidst tropical reefs busy with colorful fish or hiking remote canyons to archeological sites, old missions and ranchos. Optional yoga on stunning white sand beaches and natural history studies fill out a journey for body, mind, and soul.  Hotel and transfers included before and agter trip.  Call for additional dates.
